You are the envy of all your neighbors, you have a gorgeous wood deck in your backyard. But what also comes with that deck is the maintenance.  Sometimes, things happen to your deck and it starts to peel. Or maybe you hate the color and want to change it. Let’s talk about why it is necessary to strip your deck.

Why is It Necessary to Strip Your Deck

If you don’t keep the condition of your deck good, then you will not be happy if your bare feet get splinters.  And if you hate the color of your deck, you won’t want to sit out there at the end of a long workday. So why would it be necessary to strip your deck:

  1. You are considering getting your deck back to a natural wood color
  2. You might hate the color your last stained it
  3. Your deck is starting to peel badly

Getting Your Deck Back to Its Natural Wood Color

Why would you want to get your deck back to its original natural wood color? You might have decided the last time you stained your deck to add some color to it.  And now maybe realize you just prefer that natural wood look., If you strip your deck down, then you can just keep your deck looking natural. The natural-looking deck looks really good if you have nice looking landscaping near your deck area.  So this would be another reason to strip your deck down and get it back to its natural color.

You Hate the Color of Your Deck

So, did you happen to choose the ‘wrong’ stain color the last time you stained your deck?  Sometimes that can happen, and you just live with it. But if the color is horrible, you might want to strip your deck.  Or possibly, you just moved into a new home and you do not like the color they stained the deck. These are all good reasons to consider possibly stripping your deck.

Your Deck is Starting to Peel Badly

Why would your deck be peeling?  There could be a number of reasons.  Possibly the last time it was stained, it wasn’t prepared properly.  Or maybe your deck is starting to rot because you haven’t kept up with the maintenance schedule.  This can lead to a badly peeling deck that will need to be stripped down.  And if you’d like to see my longer, more comprehensive videos, go check out my primary website and YouTube channel.

Lotz of Logic

Stripping your deck can solve a lot of issues you might be experiencing.  You can bring it back to its original, natural state. And you can also change up the color too if you don’t like the current color.  And if your deck is peeling, you’ll definitely need to strip your deck. And one of the best times to strip your deck is the start of the late fall seasons.  This is because of the strong chemicals that are needed to be used in the process. So start thinking about if you need to get this done, so you can arrange that with a contractor.  It is best to hire this project out due to the harsh chemicals. And then ask around about why it is necessary to strip your deck.
